“The life of the nature is amazing and mysterious. A seed germinates in the soil, grows, blossoms in the right time, breeds seed again… that’s why it doesn’t pass away. A human being is also like that. He does not pass away because he is the nature. To cognize it means to cognize immortality”

“The life of the nature is amazing and mysterious. A seed germinates in the soil, grows, blossoms in the right time, breeds seed again… that’s why it doesn’t pass away. A human being is also like that. He does not pass away because he is the nature. To cognize it means to cognize immortality”, said Sarian. Life of a human continues in his siblings.

According to the data preserved Sariev’s family originates from Mkrtych Sariev – the artist’s grandfather.  In 1779 when an Armenian town Novaya (New) Nakhichevan was founded on the Don the latter together with his brother Vartevan moved there from the Crimean peninsula. The family had the surname Sariev up to 1886. Later their second name was modified into Sariyants.

From the second half of 1990 the artist began to inscribe his works as Sarian. The artist’s kin was continued by his younger son, Lazar Sarian – a known composer, a distinguished representative of the modern Armenian chamber and symphonic music. His daughters, Rouzan Sarian and Sophie Sarian, are presently in charge of the Martiros Sarian House-Museum. Presently the sole artist among the heirs happens to be Anna Sarian – the Master’s great grand-daughter.
